A day after Union Minister and Rashtriya Lok Samta Party (RLSP) chief Upendra Kushwaha hinted at a possible political realignment in Bihar, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on Sunday welcomed the proposal.
“Undoubtedly Upendraji, tasty and healthy kheer is a necessity for the hard-working people. The health-promoting elements of Panchmewa gives not only energy for the body but also helps build an equal society. The kheer made with love has full potential of nutrition, taste and energy. This is a good cuisine,” tweeted Mr. Yadav, who is the Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly.
Yadavs with a 14% vote bank are said to be solidly behind the RJD, while Kushwahas have about 6% of the vote.
Earlier on Saturday, while addressing an event organised by his party to mark the birth centenary of veteran socialist leader B.P. Mandal, who had headed the Mandal Commission that recommended 27% reservation for backward castes in jobs, Mr. Kushwaha said, “A large number of people from the Yadav caste have gathered here. It doesn’t take much time to prepare kheer, if milk from Yadavs and rice from Kushwahas mix together, but milk and rice are not enough to prepare kheer. It also needs support of people from lower castes and under-privileged society in the form of dry-fruits.” Mr. Kushwaha is said to not be happy in the ruling NDA coalition and he has been exploring political realignment with the RJD. Earlier, Mr. Yadav had said that his “party would welcome Kushwaha to the Opposition.”
