MANGALURU: The countdown for
Narendra Modi led BJP government in the centre has started and UPA government will make a comeback in 2019 polls under
Rahul Gandhi, exuded Saleem Ahmed, AICC secretary. The BJP under Modi has only sold dreams to people of the nation in general and youth in particular and the masses have clearly begun to see through this game plan of master orator and manager that Modi is, he said.
Interacting with media here, Saleem said the electorate is fed up with the Modi government over myriad issues and the elections for
Rajasthan,
Madhya Pradesh and
Chhattisgarh state assemblies that Congress will sweep later in the year will set the tone for the general elections next year. “The people will teach the BJP a lesson in the general elections and see Rahul Gandhi become the PM in a broad-based anti-BJP secular front,” he said.
Congress on its part under Siddaramaiah governed
Karnataka equitably for 5-years. However the party failed to convey this message to voters who were also swayed by the oppositions’ propaganda, he said, adding the party will play its part responsibly in the coalition set-up and ensure that BJPs dream of snatching powers from this government remains a dream for the next five years. “We will complete the full five years in this setup,” he said.
Reminding the media that Siddaramaiah’s comments on wanting a second full five-year term as CM were misconstrued and as clarified by the man himself, Saleem said Siddaramaiah’s wish is to head a full-fledged Congress government after five years. “He is our CLP leader as well as the chairman of the coordination committee,” Saleem said, adding there is no need for any apprehensions that he will rock the coalition boat with his actions or words.
Thanking the Congress leadership in Karnataka in general and AICC leadership headed by Rahul Gandhi in particular for elevating him in the party hierarchy, Saleem said the Congress is slowly yet surely rebuilding itself under the AICC president. “He (Rahul) is giving a lot of impetus to youth in party organisational matters while taking the seniors along,” he said, adding this will ensure that Congress is a formidable force ahead of 2019 polls.
