What is the idea behind ‘Green Minds Growth Mindset’?
It’s a programme for pre-teen kids aged between 8 and 12 years. Pre-teen is a crucial stage in development because of the physical changes that happen within the body. These automatically lead to changes in how the brain works. As intelligence grows with every generation, so do the problems. Parents face more challenges today than in earlier generations on how to guide their children in the right way. Therefore, children too feel confused and lost in a society that expects them to perform in every way. ‘Green Minds Growth Mindset’ is designed to meet the physical, mental and emotional requirements of today’s pre-teens. Topics covered include understanding how their body works, creating healthy habits that will help them sustain their energy, self-regulation, self-worth, emotional intelligence, mindfulness, communicating positive intentions, thoughts and actions, gratitude, etc.
What has been the response so far?
The response has been good but can be better. There needs to be more awareness about such self-development programmes for young children. As a certified life coach, when I work with adults, I notice a lot of behaviours were created around this age and they try to make changes later in life. So, this programme will help children to shape their self and mind with the required knowledge that can help them from the very beginning.
What are the upcoming programmes?
Books and online programmes also are lined up. Individual coaching for kids and parents wherever help is required for a behavioural change. Leadership programmes and other mindset programmes have been planned for teens. Every child needs a trusted adult other than their parent to be open and to talk freely. We will be providing that space for the kids. The programme has a mix of stories, activities, worksheets, games, etc. Based on these the kids self-introspect and do deep thinking.
