A small-time actress has lodged an extortion case with the Bangur Nagar police alleging an unidentified cybercriminal sent her a threatening email demanding ₹40 lakh as ransom if she does not want her bold scenes shot for a short film to be uploaded on the internet and sent to her family and friends.

The 27-year-old actress has done small roles in Hindi television serials. According to the Bangur Nagar police, the actress had worked in a short film in 2015 where she had to do a few bold scenes. She had refused to do those scenes but the casting director told her it was part of her contract and she had been paid for it. The actress did the scenes but the short film never released.

However, earlier this year she received an email from a cyber-fraudster who used a fictitious name and told her that he was in possession of those scenes and would upload it on the internet and send it to her family and friends if she does not pay him the ransom amount.

The actress ignored his demands but in August, her family and friends informed her that someone had created a fake Facebook account with her name and photo and was uploading obscene content on it.

The accused then sent friend requests to her family and friends. The accused also posted obscene messages on her real Facebook profile but she deleted them and blocked him. After this, she registered a police complaint.
