Chennai Metro Rail conducted its first trial run from AG-DMS to Washermanpet in a locomotive on Friday.
This stretch running to 9.5 km passes through eight stations including LIC, Thousand Lights, Washermanpet, Mannady and High Court.
The tunnels in this underground stretch run below Anna Salai, Cooum river at Chintadripet, Chennai Central and Suburban Railway tracks, according to a press release.
At present, Chennai Metro Rail has begun works to install various systems, platform screen doors and finish works to start services in this stretch by the end of this year.
