Mumbai: The chairman emeritus of Tata Trusts, Ratan Tata on Friday shared dais with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Chief Mohan Bhagwat at a function in Mumbai on Friday. The event was to mark the concluding ceremony of the golden jubilee year of Nana Palkar Smriti Samiti – the RSS affiliated social service institution which works in the field of patient care. Though, Tata shared the dais with Bhagwat, he did not speak at the function.
“As much as you, I too was eager to listen to Tata,” Bhagwat said as he rose to speak at the function. “When I learnt that he will not speak, I asked him the reason and he said he is shy of speaking in public. People who work hard, rarely speak,” said Bhagwat. Bhagwat spoke about Narayan Hari aka Nana Palkar, the Pracharak of RSS in whose name the social service organisation is formed. Nana Palkar Smriti Samiti works in the field of providing accommodation, foods, medicines, ambulance services and pathological tests at concessional rates, providing financial help to economically backward patients for treatment and imparting training to social workers and bringing awareness in the public to help poor and needy patients.
Bhagwat who spoke for about 40 minutes, praised the Tata sons group and their commitment to the nation. “The Tata group had never been driven by dreams to amass wealth for one family or a person. It was always driven by their pride for the nation,” Bhagwat said and added Tata was the first choice as the guest for the function due to this legacy that he carries.
