Expect more rain till Tuesday: Met dept

Residents of Gurugram can expect more rains as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted short spells of rain or thundershowers to last till Tuesday.

The residents of the city can expect more rains as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted short spells of rain or thundershowers to last till Tuesday. “The sky is likely to be generally cloudy throught the day, accompanied by a few short spells of light to moderate rain at least till Tuesday,” said an IMD spokesperson.

After a mostly dry week, the city recorded a moderate rainfall of 3 mm on Thursday. The rains brought the maximum temperature down to 31.6 degrees Celsius from an average temperature of 34 degrees throughout the week. No rainfall was recorded in the city on Saturday.

The maximum temperature rose to 34 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature was 26.6 degrees Celsius, according to the IMD website. The relative humidity recorded at 5:30 pm was 65 percent.

According to the MeT department, the maximum temperatures over the next three days are likely to remain around 31 degrees Celsius, a drop of three to four degrees from the temperatures on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.

The minimum temperatures too are expected to drop to 25 degrees Celsius from 27 to 29 degrees Celsius recorded over Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

The air quality index (AQI) in the city improved to a great extent after the rains on Thursday. The city’s AQI was 78 µg/m3 (for PM 2.5) on Thursday, which is ‘satisfactory’ according to the National Ambient Air Quality Standards, and a huge improvement from Wednesday’s AQI of 105 µg/m3. The AQI further improved to 75 µg/m3 (for PM 2.5) on Friday.
