BRIDCUL to construct homes of Teerth Purohits in Kedarnath

The State administration has selected Bridge, Ropeway, Tunnel and Other Infrastructure Development Corporation of Uttarakhand Limited (BRIDCUL) for construction of new buildings in place of residences of three Teerth Purohits coming in the way of the alignment of path to Kedarnath. Orders have been issued to start work immediately on this. In the past, for development of the path to Kedarnath, the Government had acquired the land and homes of some local persons. BRIDCUL had submitted a proposed estimate of Rs 242.22 lakh for construction of the new buildings.

The District Magistrate, construction agency and executive engineer concerned will be responsible for the quality and time bound execution of this work. After Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM) principal colonel Ajay Kothiyal took voluntary retirement, the Government has not given further work to NIM in Kedarnath. Irrigation department and the Public Works Department are already undertaking works amounting to Rs  150 crore in Kedarnath so the state decided to make BRIDCUL the executing agency for construction of the teerth purohits’ homes.
