Dialysis unit, analyser machine to function soon

A meeting of the Health Department was held under the chairmanship of Secretary Dr Pramod Kumar Meherda here on Friday.

Dr Meherda said it has been decided that all steps would be taken to prevent kidney problems in Badamba and Narasinghpur in Cuttack district.

Reports of the area from 2006 till date were presented in which it was revealed that as many as 841 and 335 people are affected in Narasinghpur and Badamba, respectively.     

Dr Meherda said a dialysis unit and analyser machine would be functional in the region soon. The affected people are to be given identification cards by which they can avail free treatment.

He also said till now the specific reason behind the disease has been found and many doctors are in the research process.  Dr Meherda also said Rs 2, 60,000 from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund has been provided for the treatment of 265 affected people.
