Tanker swept away in swirling river

An empty fuel tanker with four persons stuck in it was washed away in Kotawali river near Haridwar-Nazibabad close to Chidiapur forest range on Friday morning. The tanker, going from Haridwar to Nazibabad, was swept away in the swirling current of the swollen river while it was crossing it. The people who saw the tanker being swept away in the strong current attempted to save the people who were stuck on the tanker, but they failed.   It is learnt that they managed to get out of the tanker near Mandawali in Nazibabad. All the four people were from Doiwala and they were going to Nazibabad to fill the tanker with fuel.

While speaking of the incident, the police station in-charge Shyampur, Sukhpal Singh said, “We received a report that a tanker with four people stuck in it was swept away in the strong current of Kotawali river at around 9 am on Friday. The driver Bablu and three others were stuck on the tanker. They managed to come out of the tanker on their own in Nazibabad. All four are safe.”
