IMA’s Chushul Company wins prestigious Colonel Hoshiar Singh, PVC Trophy

The Chushul Company of Indian Military Academy ( IMA) won the prestigious Colonel Hoshiar Singh, PVC Trophy in the Inter Company Boxing Championship of IMA.

A communique of the IMA informed that the championship was organised at the Hoshiar Singh Gymnasium from August 16 to 24. The matches were held in eight different categories with each company competing in preliminary, quarterfinals and semifinals rounds.

The Honorary Captain Padam Bahadur Mall (Retired) of 1/8 GR was also present on the occasion to inspire the boxers. Mall, an outstanding sportsman, was the national boxing champion in Light Weight category from 1959-1962 and had won the gold medal at Asian Games held at Jakarta in 1962.

He was also the first Indian Boxer to be adjudged best boxer in Asian Games in Jakarta in 1963 and also won a silver medal at Pre-Olympics in Tokyo (Japan). The veteran was felicitated during special ceremony held at the venue by the Commandant of IMA, Lieutenant General S K Jha.
