SAD demands dismissal of Pb minister for allegedly distorting Gurbani verses

Press Trust of India  |  Chandigarh

Opposition SAD today demanded that Sukhjinder Singh be dismissed for allegedly distorting the verses of the 'Gurbani'.

"Sukhjinder has distorted the verses of the Gurbani and he has done it intentionally. It cannot be tolerated. I demand from the Sahib (Chief Amarinder Singh) to immediately dismiss Randhawa," he told reporters here.

Yesterday, a group of (SGPC) members had reportedly submitted a memorandum with the Akal Takht Jathedar in Amritsar, alleging that Jails Randhawa had distorted the Gurbani during a press conference a few days back.

On August 23, Randhawa had written a letter to the takht -- the highest temporal seat of the Sikhs -- questioning the reappointment of Takht Damdama as its head granthi.

Giani Gurmukh Singh is the brother of Himmat Singh, a key witness who retracted from his statement given to the Justice Commission, which probed sacrilege incidents, against the then ruling Badal family.

Himmat had reportedly alleged that he was under pressure from Randhawa to sign the statement.

Randhawa had been on the target of the SAD that had accused him along with Justice of allegedly fabricating evidence and leaking commission report before its submission to the assembly.

The party had even sought dismissal of the minister for his part in the alleged "criminal leakage" of the report.
