Man arrested over the death of a woman in Sydney's west

Investigations are underway into the death of a woman in a western Sydney unit block on Saturday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to Sandal Crescent in Carramar just before 1.30pm, where they found a woman seriously injured.

The woman - who has not been formally identified - died at the scene, despite attempts to revive her.

Officers from Fairfield City Police Area Command arrested a man after a short pursuit on foot, taking him to Fairfield Police Station.

A crime scene has been established and detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
