Delhi Metro to add fleets, women to get free ride on DTC buses

Observing a large number of ridership on the day of Raksha Bandhan in Metro trains and the public buses, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation and the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) has decided to increase the fleets in order to serve the passengers as well as manage the rush during the brother and sister eve. Also, the woman passenger will be luckier on the Sunday as the DTC has decided to provide free ridership to the woman passengers in both AC and Non-AC  buses from 8:00 am till 10 pm. Raksha Bandhan will be celebrated on 26 August this year.

Delhi Metro has decided to run nearly 600 extra train trips on Sunday and deploy additional security personnel to handle the rush expected on the Saturday and Sunday.

 “The Delhi Metro has made arrangements to run extra trips on both the coming Saturday and Sunday i.e, on 25th and 26th August 2018 to facilitate public during Rakshabandhan festivities. Also, the sections on which Metro services start at 8:00 am on Sundays, which happens to be Rakshanadhan this Sunday, will also have services available from 6:00 am onwards,” said a senior DRMC official.

Delhi Metro will be running 253 extra train trips on Saturday and 598 extra train trips on Sunday in comparison to their routine timetable covering all the Lines. Services would be available from 6 am on following corridors — Yellow Line (Jahangirpuri - Samaypur Badli); Violet Line (Badarpur Border — Escorts Mujesar); Green Line (Mundka — City Park section); Pink Line (Majlis Park - Lajpat Nagar section) and Magenta Line (Janakpuri West — Botanical Garden).

“Additional guards/Customer Facilitation Agents (CFA) will also be deployed at major metro stations to help and guide commuters on these two days. In addition, extra personnel will also be deployed to handle the increased load on the ticketing system, wherever required,” said an Official.
