Cyber cell nabs man for creating fake FB profile

The cyber crime cell of Madhya Pradesh police has nabbed a man on the charge of creating a fake Facebook profile and using the fake profile to find ‘real identity’ of facebook friend.

Police said that the complainant Kavish Tiwari, a resident of Rewa lodged a complaint with the cyber cell regarding posting of messages over fake facebook profile made using his name and photographs.

The victim lodged a complaint with the Cyber crime cell regarding the accused who was posting messages over fakebook profile. 

The victim was not aware regarding the fake facebook profile as the accused Praveen Kumar Patel was his friend who became friend over social media app. 

In the initial investigation it was found that the fake facebook profile was operated from Bhopal.

Later in the investigation the police narrowed down to Ayodhya Nagar where the accused lives and nabbed the accused.

The accused is MTech and became friend with the accused over social media messaging app but he doubted that the victim was provided his real identity and using name and photographs of the victim accused created a fake facebook profile and posed at victim and tried to chat with friends to reveal victim’s real identity.

Based on the complaint after the preliminary investigation the police have registered a case under section 469 of IPC and 66 C of the IT act and nabbed the accused. Police are yet to confirm crime record of the accused and his involvement in crimes of the same nature.
