3 get life term for gangrape of 2 girls

A special court for POCSO cases has sentenced three persons to life imprisonment in a case related to gang rape of a minor girl and her maternal aunt under the Bariatu police station area on December 20, 2015.

Special judge Diwakar Pandey sentenced Abu Talib, Manish Niril Dhan and Pankaj Sahu to life term under section 376 (D) of IPC. He also imposed a fine of 20,000 each on them.

Giving the information special public prosecutor AK Rai added the convicts would have to undergo rigorous imprisonment of three years for default in payment of fine.

The convicts were also given imprisonment term of 10 years and fined Rs 10,000 each under section 4 of POCSO act. They would undergo additional term of two years for default in payment of fine.

In her compliant before the police the minor girl stated that she and her maternal aunt were on Bharamtoli hillock along with two boys when six men came to the spot and started abusing them. They committed the rape on both the victims at gun point while threatening the girls of dire consequences if they told anyone about the incident.

Meanwhile, in another case special judge for POCSO cases Diwakar Pandey on Friday sentenced one Anil Kispotta (40) to eight years in jail and imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on him for raping a seven year old girl under the Mandar police station area.

The victim’s mother had on March 21 2016 informed the police that her daughter along with sisters had gone to attend a marriage function on the day of the incident.

As the girl went to wash her hands after eating food when the convict forcibly took her to a lonely place and committed the crime.

While passing the order judge Diwakar Pandey instructed that the amount paid as fine would go to the victim. He also stated that district legal service authority should take proper steps for ensuring suitable compensation to the victim under the Victim Compensation Act.
