NOIDA: The Noida Authority on Friday sealed eight unauthorised under-construction buildings and seven shops which were built on its land in Garhi Chaukhandi in Sector 121.
Officials said these buildings were built on Authority land without a no-objection certificate and served several notices in the past two years, with the latest being sent four months ago. While no one was living in these buildings, labourers present at the spot were asked to vacate before the sealing drive.
An anti-encroachment drive was also carried out by the same Noida Authority team, amid huge police presence, in sectors 57 and 58, where temporary shops, roadside eateries and street carts were removed.
“Eight buildings were sealed in Garhi Chaukhandi. They include one six-floor building and seven shops in khasra number 14, four buildings of five floors each in khasra number 104, one building of five floors in khasra number 55 and one building of three floors in khasra number 41,” said SP Singh, senior manager (work circle 5), Authority, who led the team.
According to Rajesh Kumar Singh, OSD to Noida Authority, the under-construction buildings were built on acquired land. “We served notices to the owners in the past, apart from pasting notices of ‘unsafe’ on them. The latest
notice was served four months ago,” he said.
