Bodies of 2 college girls recovered in Tenughat Dam

The bodies of two college girls of Jarandih area namely Sunita Kumari and Meena Kumari, with their hands tied to each other were seen floating after 72 hours near gate no-3 in Tenughat Dam, about 30 km from Bokaro district headquarters, on Friday afternoon.

Police called it a case of suicide but are yet to probe the reason behind the extreme step. Around 3pm, residents of Tenughat and Jarandih areas noticed the bodies of the girls floating and raised an alarm.

The deceased were identified as Sunita Kumari (19), daughter of Chanderdeo Saw and Meena Kumari (18) daughter of Budhan Turi of Jarandih in Kathara, under Bokaro Thermal police station area.

A suicide note apparently written by Sunita was recovered from the house of Chanderdeo Saw, which said, “Meri maa kafi Jalil ho rahi  hai ,mere shadi ko lekar  mujhse saha nahi jata ab zindagi se tang aa chuki hoon. (My mother is being insulted because of my marriage. I can’t see that. I am fed up with my life.)”

Sources said both were studying in KV college, Jarandih in BA part one. The Officer in charge and inspector Parmeshwar Leyangi said that bodies have been sent for postmortem.

He added from August 21, both girls went on missing. A missing case was registered in this connection next day. Both the girls had left their houses saying that we were on the way to college but they reached at Dam. Before jumping in Tenughat Dam both had put their rings, mobiles and bangles at the floor of wall took the extreme step, police added.
