A married woman  of  Sundargarh  district  after delivering  a  boy  child  in the Sundargarh  District  Headquarters Hospital abandoned the child and fled the hospital. Meanwhile, the infant died after nine days of treatment.

The  husband  of  woman  had  no  idea  about  his  wife’s  pregnancy and refused  that  he  was the father as he had married her just four months ago.

However, on Friday, the mother of the deceased child came to the Sundargarh DHH to claim the body after police intervention. The police handed over the body after conducting the post mortem and other formalities.

Meanwhile, the Sundargarh  DHH  has  kept the femur bone of  the deceased  child as  per  advise  of  the police  for a DNA  test.

According  to  sources, a pregnant woman, aged  about  20  years along with  her  mother  had  reached  the Sundargarh DHH at around 5  pm on August 13  complaining labor pain and  had  mentioned  her  name as  Prakasini Jurale,  wife  of Gatiram  Jurale,  a resident of Girisoma village under  Hemigiri police  station.

At around 12.15 am on August 14, she gave birth to a boy child. Since the weight of baby boy was a little more than 1 kg and his health condition was critical, he was shifted to SNCU.

The  mother of the baby boy was found missing from the hospital  bed on August 14 morning.

On August 21 at around 11.45 pm, the child died. Hospital authorities informed  Hemgiri police  about  the  death  of  child  and  about the  unclaimed  body.

The police  after  registering  a UD  case had  started an inquiry to ascertain about  the  mother  of  deceased. “We suspect that she might have pre marital relationship.  Since  her  husband  is  refusing that  he  is not father  of  the child, as  per  our  instruction, femur bone of deceased son of  woman  has  been kept  in  hospital. If require,  we will  do  DNA  test  to  know  the  father  of  child,”
