Patidar quota agitation leader Hardik Patel is likely to go on indefinite fast from Saturday. He has maintained that he will launch an indefinite hunger strike at a ground in Nikol area though he  has been refused permission for his protest.

Delhiites may face commuting problems on Raksha Bandhan as an organisation of contractual drivers and conductors working with DTC has decided to go on mass leave on the day of the festival. The Delhi Transport Corporation has reduced the wages of contract-based drivers and conductors following a high court order. The transport department in the past had been providing free bus rides to women and girls visiting their brothers in different parts of the city to tie Rakhi on the festival.

Manisha Singh, US Assistant Secretary of State for Economic and Business Affairs, will begin her four nation tour - Tokyo, Manila, Singapore, and Mumbai. Singh, 46, who was born in Uttar Pradesh, was last year nominated by President Donald Trump to the key administration position in the State Department, making her in charge of economic diplomacy. Singh will share the administration’s strategy for ensuring a free and open Indo-Pacific region, including the recent launch of new infrastructure and digital economy initiatives. Singh will meet with US companies and government officials in all the four countries to talk about steps the Trump administration is taking to support fair trade and free markets, women’s economic empowerment, and economic growth and security.
