Argentina’s “Mad Max” Is Selling His Handmade Ride For $10,000

If driving around like Mad Max is your idea of a fun commute, this right here might be your chance to turn that dream into reality.

A man from Argentina is selling a car that looks just like the beat-up rides from the Mad Max movie franchise. He designed and built the car with his own hands 40 years ago, using autogenous welding as the main tool.

Known as “El Loco de la Soldadora,” the colorful character is now parting ways with the homemade sports car for a $10,000 price. As the photos can reveal, the coupé is a mashup of parts from different cars that the owner probably sourced from scrapyards.

Despite the rather steep asking price, the real-life “Mad Max” car is not in very good condition: the interior is covered in thick dust and has liquid stains all over it, while on the outside it’s obvious that rust is an integral part of the design.

The car has been put up for sale online by the owner’s grandson, with the description reading that the car has a “Nafta 2.21” engine (which probably means it’s a 2.2-liter gasoline unit) manufactured in 1980 and has covered 10,000 kilometers (6,214 miles) since. However, nothing is said about the way the car runs  – if it still does, that is.

“It’s a unique car in the world. I listen to offers in dollars or euros,” the grandson says in the ad. What do you think, is a car that can instantly turn you into Mad Max worth all that money?
