To iron out issues plaguing the existing system used to disseminate information, especially that related to time table and availability of hall tickets, University of Mumbai launched MUM E-Suvidha app on Friday.

“Everything, including exam dates, schedules and centres, availability of hall tickets and other circulars can be accessed through this single app,” said an official from the university.

On Friday, vice-chancellor (V-C) Suhas Pednekar met more than 300 principals colleges affiliated to MU and discussed academic development. The prominent topic of discussion was setting up an incubation centre at the varsity’s Kalina campus.

“The incubation centre has been in the pipeline for several years. Once established, it will ensure better research work and innovation among students and staff,” said one of the principals.

Pednekar also heard objections and grievances of the principals.

“Issues such as lack of grants to sponsor research work and the need for a better fee structure to ensure teachers’ payment as per the latest pay commission were some of the topics highlighted by the principals,” said Marie Fernandes, principal of St Andrew’s College, Bandra.

Also discussed at the meeting were issues such as regular and authorised teacher training, strengthening of Women’s Development Cell (WDC) and capacity building of individual colleges.
