3 FIRs registered in connection with attack on DC & SP

Three FIRs has been registered by the district administration in connection with the attack on the and of Police on Wednesday at Dangapara village, police said today.

Two FIRs has been registered on the statement of Block Development Officer, Maheshpur, Umesh Mandal and one FIR was lodged on the basis of a written statement of the police station officer-in-charge, Umeshchandra Prasad, the said.

A mob had attacked the and the SP at Dangapara village on Wednesday when they went to the village after four policemen were injured when they tried to prevent the villagers from slaughtering cattle on that day during the Bakrid festival.

The FIRs named around six dozens people and around 950 unknown persons, DIG (Santal Paragana), said.

Lakra said the situation at Dangarpra village was fast returning to normal after the police held meeting with the prominent citizens of the area.

The police has been deployed in the area to maintain law and order, he added.

Police had arrested 35 persons in connection with Wednesday's incident.
