Man goes for walk in park, items snatched; stabbed to death

A 25 year-old man was stabbed to death by four unidentified men on Thursday night in Mangolpuri. The victim had gone for walk in a park near his residence where four men snatched his belongings and stabbed him several times with a knife.

“The deceased identified as Rinku worked as a driver and was a resident of Budh Vihar phase-2 in Mangolpuri. Rinku had gone for a walk in the park at around 9 pm when suddenly, four men overpowered him. Victim immediately rushed to Vinod who worked as driver with him and was standing at the park gate to narrate the incident.

The accused also arrived at the main entrance of the park and started fighting with the duo,” said a police official.

“The accused persons were armed with knives and during the ensuing quarrel, they stabbed Rinku with a knife on his right thigh and Vinod was also injured in the fight. The victims were rushed to the nearby hospital where Rinku succumbed to injuries during the treatment and Vinod was discharged after treatment,” said a police official.

“We have registered a First Information Report (FIR)  on the basis of Vinod statement. Efforts are being made to trace the accused for which we are scanning the CCTV footage in the area. Further investigation is going on,” said the official.
