New Delhi: A
32-year-old man was
stabbed to death by his
contractor in east Delhi’s
Mandawali when the former went to ask him for his
payment. Cops said that three men were involved in the killing, one of whom has been arrested.
A PCR call was made from the hospital, where the victim, Ram Pravesh, was being treated. He received two stab wounds after an argument that heated up at his contractor’s house on Wednesday. After remaining critical for two days, Pravesh succumbed to his injuries on Saturday.
According to a police officer, Pravesh’s contractor, Anirudh, had asked him to whitewash his house a week back. After Pravesh completed the job, he went to Anirudh’s house for his payment of Rs 30,000. When Anirudh declined to pay him, an altercation ensued and Pravesh was stabbed in his abdomen and chest.
Pravesh’s wife later said that she did not inform the police as she had not expected that his husband would die. It was only after his health deteriorated, that she informed the cops about the incident.
DCP (east) Pankaj Kumar said that initially, a case under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of the IPC was registered. However, after Pravesh died, Section 302 (punishment for murder) was added to the FIR. “One of the accused, Anirudh, was arrested while the search for the other two accused is ongoing,” said DCP Kumar.
