Park View residents in standoff with RWA

GURUGRAM: Residents of Park View Residency are miffed with their RWA and have sought its dissolution over hike in maintenance charges and lack of accountability. They also alleged that the RWA did not conduct fair elections and prevented residents from applying for memberships. Several residents met Rao Narbir Singh on Saturday and he promised to help them get memberships. However, the RWA president said the allegations were “fabricated”.

Residents told TOI that the problem started in 2013, after the colony was taken over from the builder. “Elections took place the same year and an RWA came into power. However, a few residents lodged complaints against it. Embroiled in multiple cases, it abdicated power and the complainants formed an ad hoc committee in May 2014 which was to look into our issues till elections. The committee later turned into the governing body which is still in power,” said a resident on the condition of anonymity.

Residents said that the RWA conducted elections last year but prevented them from applying for memberships and won unopposed. “We endured all this but decided to speak out after the residents of Mahindra Aura protested against their RWA for similar practices,” said one of them. S C Kumar, president, RWA, said, “We came to power after elections vetted by the returning officer of district registrar of firms and societies.”
