Girl students from Tamil Nadu send 15,000 rakhis for soldiers posted on borders

NEW DELHI: On the eve of Raksha Bandhan, several girl students from Tamil Nadu have made over 15 thousand rakhis meant for soldiers posted on various border posts of the country.

The rakhis were made by the girl students of Bharani Park and Bharani Vidhyalaya Schools in Tamil Nadu's Karur.

The rakhis for Army were received by Army Chief General Bipin Rawat, while the rakhis for Air Force were handed over to Vice Chief of the Air Staff Air Marshal Shirish Baban Deo.

The handover took place at the Air Force headquarters in Delhi where the girl students also tied rakhis to the jawans present there.

The rakhis have been already dispatched to troops stationed in border areas of Siachen and Sikkim.

The rakhi campaign for Indian soldiers was inaugurated by Union Minister of State for Defence Subhash Bhamre last week.
