Stalker sent food to woman’s workplace, made her pay for it: Mumbai Police

The Mumbai Police crime branch unit 11 traced and arrested a man who allegedly harassed a married woman by making innumerable blank calls to her and her husband and also sending abusive messages to them over the past nine months. When all else failed, the accused would order food from different hotels and get it delivered to the complainant’s work place — without paying for it.

The alleged stalker, who is 45 years old, used to work as a housekeeper in Borivli.

Police said the accused, since December 2017, used to make blank calls to the complainant innumerable times. In February this year, he started sending abusive messages to the woman and her husband.

In April, he started calling on her landline number of her work place and when any one else took the call, he used to abuse them and the woman.

The complainant and her husband tried calling back on the phone number but the accused diverted their phone calls. The couple filed a non-cognisable complaint after the accused started sending abusive and obscene messages. Following this, the alleged stalker stopped calling and sending messages but it resumed this month.

On August 14, the couple lodged a police complaint. A FIR was registered under Section 354 (d) for stalking, 509 for insulting the modesty of a woman of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 67A of the IT Act for transmission of obscene material. The accused was arrested a few days ago.
