19-yr-old girl sexually exploited on pretext of marriage

A19-year old trainee girl was allegedly sexually exploited for the past one year on the promise of marriage at Pragati Nagar under Ashoka Garden police station area. A case was registered on Thursday.

According to the police, the victim was sexually assaulted by the accused Sitaram Avtaare who works with the victim in the same department.

The Ashoka Garden police registered a case under section 376 of the IPC and sections 2 and 3 section of the ST/SC Prevention of Atrocities Act.

The victim came into contact with the accused when she joined Agriculture department at trainee in Bhopal where the accused used to work. The two became friends and later developed relationship. The accused allured her of marriage and sexually assaulted her at his room in Pragati Nagar.

Police said that the victim claimed that from the month of March last year till the month of August this year she was sexually exploited. For the past one year the victim was assaulted by the accused at Pragati Nagar.

After the accused refused to marry victim she returned Balaghat and lodged a complaint in Balaghat where a case of zero FIR was registered by Balaghat police and case was transferred to Ashoka Garden where case of sexual assault was registered on Thursday against the accused.

Police said that the victim and accused hail from Balaghat. Search for the accused has been started and his detailed would be obtained to trace his whereabouts.
