If there’s a king in the automotive world, a Bugatti would probably sit on the throne, and not just because it can hit an insanely high top speed figure.

Even the Chiron’s predecessor, the Veyron, was an insanely capable car on the corners, albeit one that lacked in the interaction department. The Chiron, however, is a whole different game.

Yes, it has more power and accelerates faster than its predecessor, but the Chiron’s greatest trait is that it now communicates more clearly with the driver once the road stops going straight – and Bugatti is proud of that.

They even added a dedicated Handling mode, which primes the hypercar for some good old fashioned fun, as Carfection’s latest video shows. Finally, time to find out what the Chiron feels like on a back-road when driven ‘properly’.

Power comes from a quad-turbo 8.0-liter W16 monster with 1479hp (1500PS) and 1180lb-ft (1600Nm) of peak torque. All four wheels are responsible for transferring the power to the ground via a bespoke seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

Headline figures include dizzying numbers such as a 0-62mph (100km/h) in 2.5 seconds, a 0-124mph (200km/h) in 6.1 seconds and a top speed that’s limited(!) to 261mph (420km/h), as the company reckons there are currently no tires that would allow for higher speeds. These numbers are accompanied by what probably is the world’s best and more precise engineering, too.

Contrary to popular belief, the Bugatti Chiron isn’t an one-trick pony. It isn’t even a hardcore beast built just for straights: it’s simply the King. Well, at least until we see what the more driver focused Divo, which was unveiled only yesterday, can do.
