Haryana roadways employees on Thursday held protest at all depots in the state against the State Government for suspension of a roadways union leader and decision of hiring private buses.

“The government should withdraw its decision of suspension of union leader Ram Asrey Yadav and decision to hire more than 700 private buses,” said leaders of Haryana Roadways Karamchari Joint Action Committee in a statement on Thursday.

They said, “The State Government is resorting to unethical acts and has suspended roadways union leader Ram Asrey Yadav after August 7 ‘chakka jam’.

Besides, the government has decided to take action against those roadways employees who were recruited in 2018 and took part in protest during chakka jam.”

The roadways union has threatened the government to intensity their protest and hold chakka jam again if their demands are not fulfilled.

Notably, around 4000 buses of Haryana roadways had remained off the roads on August 7 across Haryana and its capital—Chandigarh with the state transport employees demanding withdrawal of government’s decision to hire more than 700 private buses.

Other demands of the union included withdrawal of certain provisions of the Motor Vehicle (Amendment) Bill,  introduction of a Bill in the State Assembly for regularization of contractual employees and give relief to employees affected due to High Court’s order on 2014 regularization policies, regularization of drivers, conductors recruited in 2016, bringing petrol and diesel under GST.
