Asian Games 2018, Live Updates, Day 6: Rowers Add Gold to Medal Tally, India Beat Pakistan in a Thriller in Handball

Incredible finish here, India have beaten Pakistan 28-27 in the last few seconds in an absolute thriller in handball. India win by single goal and are celebrating, Naveen Punia with the winning goal with 10 seconds to go! 

15 minutes to go in  the men's handball group stage between India and Pakistan, with India having a slender lead of 21-20! We should be in for a nail biter here.

Dushyant Singh had to be stretchered off during the prize distribution ceremony after he threw up due to high blood pressure. 

Meanwhile, India's handball competition is turning out to be a cracker here, Pakistan currently lead 17-16 with 37 minutes gone!

Suprita Das, Senior Journalist for News18 Sports: Deepika Kumari’s big stage blues story has remained the same unfortunately. She made an early exit in Rio, and here in Indonesia too in the individual and now the mixed event too where she was competing with Atanu Das. Slightly baffling given that she came into the Asian Games having won a World Cup gold. The archer says she doesn’t feel she has a mental block while competing at such events, but the stats, sadly, tell a different story. 

India's Harjinder Singh and Amit Kumar have finished fourth and fifth respectively in men's 300m standard rifle.

In men's lightweight eight, India missed out on the Bronze by 0.14 of a second as Hong Kong finished at 6.14.46 and India finished at 6.15.00!

Meanwhile, in men's handball India is currently playing Pakistan and the men in green lead India by 3-1 at the moment

Suprita Das, Senior Journalist for News18 Sports: Contrasting qualification narratives for Manu Bhaker and Heena Sidhu in the 10m Air Pistol. The younger Manu started strong before finishing 3rd with qualifying score of 574/600. Heena’s start was horrid, as she languished as low as 17th at one point, but the veteran shot her way back to 7th with a qualificatiob score of 571. The event will be a test of 16 year old Manu Bhaker’s character after her poor showing in two events so far but 10m is her strength.

Suprita Das, Senior Journalist for News18 Sports: After a disappointing day at the rowing yesterday, India’s rowers have taken it upon themselves to mend ways today! News coming in from Indonesia is that Dushyant Singh who won Indi’a’s first rowing medal this time, a bronze in the lightweight singles singles, rowed on with high BP. At the medal ceremony he threw up, and had to be stretchered out later on. Rohit Kumar and Bhagwan Singh have won a bronze too. Redemption chance for  Dattu Baban Bhokanal in the team event today after yesterday’s forgettable show.  

India have lost to Mongolia in mixed team recurve quarterfinal, going down 5-4.

Great news for India as Heena Sidhu recovers after a bad start and along with Manu Bhaker, she has qualified for 10m women's air pistol!

India's Rohit Kumar and Bhagwan Singh have also won bronze in men's Lightweight Double Sculls. This is India's 20th medal!

India's Advait Page has finished 1st in the men's 1500m heats and has qualified for the final. Superb timing of 15:29:96 for him!

Manu Bhaker is currently first in women's 10m air pistol qualification, Heena Sidhu is languishing at the 17th spot at the moment. Will be tough for Heena to stage a comeback here!

India has finished 1st in Round Robin 2 - Round 1 in Bridge with the score of 102.77 

Korea's Hyunsu Park with timing of 7.12.86 and Hong Kong's Chun Gun Chiu with timing of 7.14.16 have won gold and silver respectively. Dushyant meanwhile had a timing of 7.18.76

MEDAL ALERT! Rower Dushyant has won the 19th medal for India, winning a bronze in men's lightweight single sculls. 

Big news as Sandeep Sejwal enters the final for the men’s 50m breaststroke final after topping his heat with a timing of 27.95, he is sixth in the overall standings. Final will be later today.

Manu Bhaker is currently at fourth spot while Heena Sidhu is languishing at the 13th spot in women's 10m air pistol qualification, still three rounds to go though and both of them will be looking to improve on their showing!

India's Shivam Shukla has finished fourth with a total score of 289 in qualification stage 1 in 25 metre Rapid Fire Pistol men.

Amit Kumar and Harjinder Singh will start off the day for India in 300m Standard Rifle event. This is a gold medal event. Can India add gold here?
