A girl, 14, and a boy, 12, on Thursday reportedly injured themselves on their hands with a blade, in protest against being sent to school. Both belong to Machilipatnam town and are distant relatives.
The incident occurred while they were on the way to the school. Initially, they told newsmen and their parents that some miscreants had attacked them. They later confessed that they had injured themselves, said the parents of the two minors and Inaguduru CI Sheik Abdul Nabi.
The girl had recently been shifted to the new school, according to her family. The duo was given medical treatment at the District Government Hospital and discharged by evening.
