Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman visits the flood and landslide-ravaged Kodagu district, bordering Kerala, where rescue and relief operations are underway in full swing. The minister will also hold meetings with the district administration and other officials at the Deputy Commissioner’s office on the relief and rehabilitation work.

Hurricane Lane brought torrential rains to Hawaii's Big Island and Maui before the storm was expected to hit Oahu. A powerful hurricane unleashed torrents of rain and landslides on Thursday that blocked roads on the rural Big Island but didn't scare tourists away from surfing and swimming at popular Honolulu beaches still preparing get pummeled by the erratic storm.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K.Palaniswami inspected the collapsed regulator and announced that a new regulator would be built at a cost of ₹410 crore across the Coleroon river about 100 metres away from the regulator that had collapsed at Upper Anicut.
