75-yr-old held raping 7-yr-old tribal in Jajpur

A 75-year-old man was arrested on Thursday on the charge of raping an eight-year-old tribal  girl on Wednesday night in the Kachahudi locality in the Vasyanagar Municipality area in Jajpur  district.

Sasadhar Barik committed the crime while the girl was sleeping in her house.  On Thursday, the girl's elder sister filed an FIR against the accused, following which police arrested the accused.

The victim was rushed to the Government hospital at Jajpur Road.

Further investigation in the case was on, said Jajpur Road police station IIC Amitav Mohapatra.

The accused was booked under Section 376 (2)(i) of IPC, Sections 3(a), 4 and 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and Section 3 of SC and ST (Atrocity Prevention )Act, added the police officer.
