‘India Tourism Mart will be a platform for small players also’

To boost Indian tourist destinations and its products in international source markets, the Federation of Associations in Indian Tourism and Hospitality (FAITH) on Friday unveiled the India Tourism Mart a platform for stakeholders to interact and seek business opportunities.

At a press conference here Suman Billa, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Tourism said that the event will take place from September 16 to 18 in Delhi.

It will focus on hospitality, culture, cuisines, heritage monuments, infrastructure, niche products from various Indian States and MICE (Meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) facilities.

“There are two reasons for coming up with the Indian Tourism Mart: firstly, it is important to bring buyers into India so that they are able to see what the country has to offer. Secondly, it is also about the principle of equality and so even the smallest players will have access to the best buyers in the world”, he said.

He added, that the industry will organise the event with the support from the government making it a true PPP model. So far 274 international buyers have been selected to be part of the mart from 65 countries.
