Autodriver, 34, arrested for biting cop's finger

CHENNAI: An auto driver has been arrested for biting the finger of a policeman at Velachery on Thursday.
In the early hours of Thursday when the policeman, constable Darwin, was on his night rounds he came across an auto-rickshaw standing at a deserted stretch of the third street on Park Avenue.

When he looked in side the auto he found a man and a woman seated. He asked the man to move the auto form the spot as as it was not safe and further inquired about the identity of the woman . Out of the blue, the autodriver bit the finger of the constable and fled. Hearing his cries, a few residents rushed to his rescue and took him to a private hospital where he received treatment.

Police, with the help of registration number of the vehicle, tracked down the driver and arrested him. He was identified as Murugadoss, 34, of Neelankarai.
