CM flags off relief material to Kerala

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath flagged off 25 vehicles loaded with relief material to the flood-hit Kerala state from his 5, Kalidas Marg official residence in Lucknow on Wednesday.

This was the first lot of relief material being sent to the southern state.

The UP government has already announced a financial help of Rs 15 crore and a cheque has been handed over to the officials concerned.

In his brief address before flagging off the relief vehicles, the Chief Minister said that organisations should come forward and help the people of Kerala at the time of calamity.

Yogi said that around 60 metric tonne of food and other items had been donated by different organisations, companies, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and others, and they were sent to Kerala.

The relief items include biscuits, dry fruits, rusk, fruit juice, ORS packets, water bottles, candles, milk powder, chips and other things besides medicines and sarees.

The relief items would be loaded on IL-76 aircraft of the Indian Air Force in Lucknow and flown to Kerala.
