LUCKNOW: The waterlogging at Amausi airport after a sudden, heavy downpour and barricading due to VIP movement as former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s ashes were scheduled to arrive on Thursday caused severe inconvenience to passengers and those coming to drop and pick them.
The one-hour heavy downpour that started around noon caused waterlogging in airport premises. Passengers could be seen stranded, waiting for the stagnant water on international and domestic terminal routes to clear somehow. When their patience gave away many passengers decided to walk down to the cab pickup point, carrying their luggage on their shoulder and head to keep their belongings safe.

Passengers who had come to board flight were seen asking for way to reach the terminal as three routes from Kanpur road were barricaded for security reasons.

Passengers, their family members and friends faced lot of hardships due to waterlogging.

“I came to see off my brother. There was heavy waterlogging all around. We had to drive very slow and in the middle of the road to avoid any open manhole or pothole,” said Krityansh, a resident of Gomtinagar Extension.

“I travel to Delhi once a week. This month I have seen waterlogging in airport premises on each visit. Airport authorities seem unaware and least bothered about the problems the passengers face,” said Tanish Wadhwa, a resident of Indiranagar.
