Three doctors from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), who had provided consultation on the treatment provided to former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa at Apollo Hospitals, deposed before the one-man commission probing her death on Thursday.
G. C. Khilnani, Professor, Department of Pulmonology Medicine; Anjan Trikha, Professor of Anaesthesiology and Critical Care; and Nitish Nayak, Additional Professor, Department of Cardiology, appeared before retired Justice A. Arumughaswamy and answered various questions regarding the treatment provided to her.
Dr. Khilnani and Dr. Nayak deposed separately in the morning, following which Dr. Trikha deposed in the afternoon.
After this, the commission put questions and sought clarifications from the three doctors together. The three were summoned by the commission as ‘commission witness’.
It is learnt that the commission sought to know the details of the medicines administered to Jayalalithaa and other treatment given to her when she was hospitalised.
In March 2017, AIIMS submitted a detailed report on her treatment to the State government.
This is the first time that doctors from AIIMS have been summoned to depose on the the death of the former AIADMK supremo. On Friday, the doctors will be cross-examined by V.K. Sasikala’s lawyers.
