A Delhi Police Constable has been arrested and dismissed from service for allegedly honey-trapping a businessman and extorting ₹3.5 lakh from him, the police said on Thursday.
The Constable has been identified as Chanderhas and was dismissed from service on Thursday after the matter came to light on Tuesday, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini) Rajneesh Gupta.
The businessman, in his complainant to the police, said he had befriended a woman on Facebook on August 17 after which the two decided to meet at Rithala Metro Station. “The two went shopping and later he went to drop the woman at her house. He was called inside on the pretext of helping her carry the shopping bags,” said a senior police officer.
When the complainant went inside, another woman was present there. When he went to take a call in the gallery, two men, including one in police uniform entered the house and threatened him, the officer said. The man in police uniform allegedly told the complainant that he would arrest the man on charges of rape he did not pay him ₹7lakh. However, he let the complainant go in ₹3.5 lakh.
The victim identified the accused after which legal and disciplinary action was taken against the latter.
