CBI court rejects Dera chief’s plea in castration case

CHANDIGARH: In a yet another blow to Dera Sacha Sauda head Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, the Panchkula CBI court on Thursday dismissed his bail plea in castration case. This was the first bail application filed by the dera chief in the case.
The court, however, had allowed the application filed by co-accused in the case Dr Pankaj Garg. He had moved an application for permission to go to the United Kingdom from November 3-11 to attend a medical conference. He has been directed to complete some legal formalities before going abroad.

Recently, the CBI court in Panchkula had framed charges under sections 326 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means), 417 (cheating) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC against Gurmeet, who was charged as prime accused in CBI chargesheet. Besides, charges under sections 326 and 120 B (criminal consipiracy) of the IPC were also framed against the dera chief and two others, Dr M P Singh alias Mahender Insan and Dr Pankaj Garg.
