A bear injured a 10-year-old boy after charging at his family while they were hiking in Yellowstone National Park.??????Park Officials say the parents were able to drive off the animal with bear spray after the boy was attacked and knocked to the ground.??????However the National Park Service says he suffered puncture wounds to his back, wounds around his buttock and an injured wrist.????The boy was taken to the ranger station and eventually transferred to Big Sky Medical Center.??????The family of four was hiking the Divide Trail, just southeast of Old Faithful when the bear attacked.????????It’s not clear what caused the bear to charge or if it was a grizzly or black bear.????In a statement, the National Park Service reminded visitors that all of Yellowstone is bear habitat, saying to stand your ground and not run if charged by a bear.??????With more than 4 million visitors a year, this was the first reported bear attack in Yellowstone since 2015, with an average of one attack per year.??
