THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala government has tied up with e-commerce major Amazon India to supply individual kits containing food and non-food items to those heading to their homes from the flood relief camps. Amazon has provided a specific link on requirements for the ‘Back to Home’ kits, wherein donors can donate.

“We have tied up with the state government in preparing the kits. The link has already been uploaded on our website and the requirements have been listed...,” Amazon India senior manager (public relations) Madhavi Kochar said.

Among the food items, the kit will have 5 kg of rice, green gram, toor dal, coconut oil, spices, sugar, salt, onion, potato and country beans. It will also have a bucket, a mug, soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, comb, lungi, nighty and clothes for kids.

The government has also appointed a nodal officer of civil supplies department in each district as the receiving officer, who will report to the district collectors’ nodal officer coordinating items sourced from multiple channels. Amazon will deliver the goods ordered online by donors to the main collection centre in the district.

Also, the disaster management department has ordered procuring food items through SupplyCo and Horticorp, which will be packed at the district receiving and disbursing centres and taken to camps for being distributed in kits.
