NIA arrests Manipur legislator in missing arms case

A Member of (MLA) from Manipur, Yamthung was arrested by Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday in connection with a missing arms case.

The case pertains to theft of 56 pistols and 58 magazines from the (DG) located inside second Rifles Battalion premises. The weapons have gone missing between 2016 and early 2017, a presser by read.

Prior to today's arrest, sleuths have also raided the residence of MLA Yamthing on July 30th. In the said raid at Mantri Pukhri, Imphal, recovered one of the missing pistols. Other than the recovery of the pistol, NIA claims to have gathered sufficient material and shreds of evidence implicating MLA Yamthung in the missing arms case, the missive added.
