The Punjagutta police claimed to have solved three theft cases and recovered a diamond necklace and earrings, an SUV car and silver plates worth about ₹28 lakh.
In the first case, the police arrested a car driver in connection with the theft of a diamond necklace and earrings worth ₹ 14.85 lakh from a parked car. DCP (West) AR Srinivas said the accused, Arun Singh (40) of Warasiguda in Secunderabad, stole a diamond necklace set from a car parked in the cellar of a jewellery shop in Punjagutta on August 17.
In the second case, the police arrested four persons for theft of silver plates in a noted jewellery shop by diverting the attention of sales persons.
The accused – Kavadi Venkatamma, Kavadi Jyothi, Sadhanamaina Mangamma and Kavadi Krishna – residents of Gummadidala in Sangareddy, stole four silver plates weighing about 1.8 kg worth about ₹1 lakh, Mr Rao said.
In another case, T.Samuel Raju (30) of Kakinada in East Godavari district of AP was arrested for car theft.
