A Bluefaced Leicester gimmer bred by her neighbour brought a championship win for Abergele’s Jacqui McLeod at this year’s Wales and South West Progeny Show.
The shearling, bought as a ewe lamb from neighbour Mick Jones, headed the line-up of Blues at Welshpool this week.
Jacqui, of the Wanstead flock, Nant Y Glyd, Dolwen, has since shown the “outstanding” Fairview gimmer with considerable success.
By a Wanstead tup and out a Shrewbridge ewe, she was reserve female champion at the Royal Welsh Show and won the breed title at Eglwysbach.

Judging the progeny show was Scotsman Alan McClymont, whose Kirkstead flock won this year’s Royal Welsh breed title.
For his reserve champion he picked out Cernyw Gloria, a homebred aged ewe from Elfyn Owen of the Cernyw flock, Ffridd Arw, Llanddoged.
Sired by Howlea out of a homebred ewe, it was the second year in succession she has won the progeny show’s reserve crown
She was female champion at the Royal Welsh Show and hill supreme at Anglesey.

Winning the ewe lamb class was a fully homebred entry from Aled Jones of the Craig yr Orsedd flock, Meddiant Isa, Talycafn.
Aled then paired this up with two more ewe lambs to secure the progeny group title.
All three ewe lambs were sired by Logie Durno, bought by Aled for 4,200gns at last year’s NSA Wales and Border Ram Sales , Builth Wells.
Reserve group was a trio of shearling ewes from Elfyn Owen, Cernyw. These homebred shearlings were sired by the performance-recorded Cassington, to be sold at this year’s NSA ram sale in Builth Wells on September 17.

Male champion was a homebred shearling ram from Tudor Harris, Bonvilston, who also secured the reserve male title with an aged ram sired by an Craig yr Orsedd tup.
Both theses will also be going under the hammer in Builth Wells next month.
Tudor also took the red rosette in the ram lamb class.
In the recorded ram lambs, Elfyn Owen, Cernyw took the first prize ticket with a homebred lamb sired by a Cassington tup.
