LUDHIANA: In a huge relief for lakhs of businessmen in Punjab, the exemption limit of intrastate (within the state) E-way bill has been doubled from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1,00,000. Though the new rule will come into effect from Monday after the new change is notified.
Confirming this major development to TOI, Punjab finance minister Manpreet Badal said, "We have enhanced the exemption limit of the intrastate e-way bill from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1,00,000. The modifications l have been done by us on the pattern of
Maharashtra and other states which have eased the norms of E-way bill in their states. The process of issuing a notification in this regard has already been initiated and it is very likely that new changes will come into effect last by Monday". Badal also informed TOI that job work has been fully exempted from the E-way bill in Punjab.
According to Ludhiana Central MLA, Surinder Dawar who had often raised this issue said, “Being an industrialist myself I am fully aware of the problems being faced by the businessmen. Ever since the E-way bill was introduced a lot of issues cropped up which made doing business very difficult, especially for the small businessmen. During my recent meetings with the finance minister, I apprised him of the major problems regarding the E-way bill’s present form. This development is the reflection of the Captain
Amarinder Singh Government’s seriousness towards every section and also how promptly our government acts on the grievances of businessmen".
