PATIALA: The special
NIA court of Nirbhau Singh Gill has issued
non-bailable arrest warrants against four persons residing outside India, who had been named in the challan filed by the central agency in Punjab
targeted killings.
Those against whom the warrants have been issued include Gurjant Singh from Australia, Harmeet Singh alias PhD,
Gursharanbir Singh and Gurjinder Singh Shastri, who had been named as main conspirators of the targeted killings.
The warrants were issued following an application moved by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), which also submitted related documents in the court on Tuesday claiming that Gurjant Singh Dhillon, son of Harbhag Singh and a resident of Behlolpur village in Samrala of Punjab (Punjab) was now residing in Australia. While, Harmeet Singh PhD, an ISI supported pro-Khalistan operative was based in Lahore, The NIA claimed that Gursharanbir Singh was now residing in the United Kingdom (UK) and Gurjinder Singh Shastri in Italy.
The NIA has filed various charge sheets against these four persons, along with Scottish citizen Jagtar Singh Johal alias Jaggi, Taljit Singh Jimmy, Hardeep Singh Shera, Ramandeep Singh Bagga and others in the targeted killings.
Gurjant Singh from Australia, who is active on social media, has denied all the allegations levelled by the NIA.
NIA’s chargesheets
As per the NIA’s chargesheets, a sum of Rs 23 lakh had been received in the state by Hardeep Singh and Ramandeep Singh from Italy, Australia and the United Kingdom, which was used to give a practical shape to the conspiracy of targeted killings that had been hatched in 2013 in Italy.
During investigating, the NIA had tracked the conspiracy to Italy, when Hardeep Singh was staying there with his paternal uncle Daljit Singh in 2013. He came in contact with Gurjinder Singh alias Shastri who arranged for the stay of
Harminder Singh Mintoo at the house of his paternal uncle Daljit Singh at Solarolo Raincrio, Cremona in Italy. During his stay, Mintoo closely interacted with Hardeep and saw a potential recruit for his KLF and convinced him of the need for violence in the name of Khalistan. The chargesheet had stated that during this time Gurjinder Singh Shastri, Harminder Singh Mintoo and Hardeep Singh took a tour of France and Germany by road. When in Paris Mintoo and Shastri received Jagtar Singh Johal at the airport who had arrived from the UK. Johal had been sent by Gursharanbir Singh to deliver 3000 ponds to Mintoo.
Harmeet Singh PhD came in contact with Hardeep Singh Shera after the arrest of Mintoo by the India authorities, when Hardeep started using his Skype ID. Later Harmeet recruited Ramandeep through social networking sites. The chargesheets had also claimed that Harmeet alias PhD would control the activities of the two shooters from Lahore. The others against whom the warrants were issued were actively participating in the conspiracy of tainted killings by helping in arranging funds
