Information received to be passed on to respective government hospitals

Medical Helpline, the flood-relief medical aid control centre at the General Hospital, closed most operations on Thursday except the call centre (9946992995).

The calls reaching the call centre will be attended to by passing the information to the respective government hospitals in the area, said Dr. V Madhu, in-charge of the centre.

Medicines received at the centre would be moved to the KMSCL, according to Dr. Madhu.

Dr. A. Anitha, Superintendent, General Hospital, told The Hindu that the centre had been an initiative of the hospital. Now, with more people moving to their homes, the activities would be coordinated through the primary health centres under the District Medical Officer.

Various medical organisations such as the Indian Medical Association, Indian Academy of Paediatrics, and others were part of the coordinated medical aid.
